Composite Dental Veneers

What is a Composite Dental Veneer?

Is a thin layer of white filling material applied to the tooth in layers in order to improve the look of a tooth or to protect a damage to a tooth’s surface.

What is involved with a composite veneer?

A composite dental veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using a resin.

What are the advantages?

Composite Dental Veneers are different from porcelain veneers in that they require little if any tooth reduction (drilling) and the treatment can be completed in a single visit.  However, unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers can be prone to staining and may not last as long.

Teeth Veneers are the quickest way to help improve all sorts of issues from gaps, colouring, and mild straightening.

One of the benefits is the maintenance of natural tooth tissue and ease of repair – if composite does chip it can readily be repaired.

‘Mock-ups’ are usually made for both types of veneers so that the patient can understand the procedure and take the ‘mock-ups’ home to try in their own time before moving to the final procedure.  The ‘mock-ups’ are then refined and a ‘mask’ impression taken from them so that the technician or dentist can copy the ‘mock- ups’ as closely as is humanly possible.
